Gender Mainstreaming & Phosphorus Sustainability
Gender mainstreaming is woven throughout the uPcycle project, from project coordination to stakeholder engagement and the recommendations that are developed. By recognising and addressing gender disparities, we can build more inclusive, equitable, and ultimately more effective solutions for sustainable nutrient management.
To support this and wider efforts, we’ve developed a Framework for Gender Mainstreaming in Sustainable Phosphorus Management and Nature Recovery. This practical guide helps phosphorus sustainability projects embed gender considerations into their design and implementation, ensuring diverse voices are represented and inequalities are addressed.
Gender is often overlooked in technical sectors like phosphorus management, yet it has a profound influence on access, participation, and project outcomes. Our framework offers concrete steps for integrating gender analysis, improving representation, and creating more socially responsive environmental initiatives.
For a deeper look at how gender equity is embedded within uPcycle specifically, we also invite you to explore our Gender Mainstreaming Action Plan, which outlines our project-wide commitments, targets, and actions.
Together, these efforts strengthen not only our project, but a broader movement towards inclusive and effective sustainable phosphorus management.
